Mid-Summer Fashion Do's & Don'ts

I don't know about you but I have been waiting for the summer time since well
last summer lol. We're over the snow, past the monsoon season and now the days
are long and mild while the nights are short and cool. With all this warm
weather and fabulous sunshine comes a lot of "responsibility." The
"responsibility" I'm referring to is everyone's fashion responsibility.

Now I know what you may be thinking "its hot and I don't care what I wear." That's a
big mistake! I have put together a few simple mid-summers do's and don'ts
to keep you from creating fashion faux pas.

Do: change up your pace and try a straw hat or fedora. It keeps the sun out of
your face and it's great for those bad hair days. You can find these hats almost anywhere,
from the thrift store to Barney's. Its all about your individual style
and flavor.

Don't: over accessorize. It's hot out people! There's no reason for you to walk
out looking like Mr. T. Coco Chanel said before you leave the house take off
one piece of jewelry. I live by that!! If you must wear a lot of jewelry at
least do it at night when your going to the club or big event. During the day
that metal will heat up and the last thing you want is a spontaneous combustion.

Do: try to add a little neon to your wardrobe. I know neon is a trend but once
you buy a little it flows like water. Because neons are so bright, a little
goes a long way. Try adding it to your manicure by painting a finger or two. It makes your mani pop and you could start a new trend!

Don't: go over board on the neon trend. Because this trend is everywhere, it is
easy to buy lots of neon polish, jeans and shirts. Try to keep the neon as the
smallest color pallet in your wardrobe. And be aware that they go best with
black not another neon!

Do: keep your silhouette simple. Weighing your daytime wardrobe down with a
bunch of layers and dark colors will do nothing but make you hot. Try a light
summer dress or skirt and tank combo to create a classic summer time 'fit.
Simple is always in fashion, period.

Honorable mention don'ts:

Liquid tights are a no no during the day! It's way too hot and I know they are
not completely breathable.

Overdosing on the colored jean trend. I have to admit I almost fell victim to
this one! Be strong, stick to something like 2 colors to every 6 pair of blue
jeans you own.

Grown men with faux hawks. Nuf said!

Honorable mention do's:

A jean jacket --not worn with more jean but with a
lipped collar. So hot!

Flat sandals come in a million colors and styles including browns, metallics and jeweled.
They can make any outfit casual and they don't do a number on your feet. You
can find them anywhere from Rainbow to Chanel.

A big bright bag gives a plain outfit that extra little something. I don't mean
big as in duffel bag big lol but slightly over sized is super cute.
