Ryan Leslie Speaks at Young Faces Smiling Event in Harlem
Ryan Leslie came out to support Young Faces Smiling by speaking to the students at Bread & Roses High School in Harlem about the importance of getting an eduction and how it lays the foundation to build upon. Those who follow Mr. Leslie know he scored a perfect 1600 on the SATs, graduated Harvard University at age 19 and has gone on to become a great producer/songwriter/singer. But what you may not know is that upon graduating from college, Ryan was homeless for a short time before returning home to live on his father's couch. He shared with the students that it was that moment when He realized he couldn't quit. He thanked his Father for purchasing $15,000 worth of recording equipment to jump start the dream and told the students not to squander the investment that their parents, mentors, and teachers are making in them.
DID YOU KNOW... R.Les cut hair in college. He charged $7 a head, stacked his bread and bought gear to stay fresh. Hustlin! I guess Tre Songz wasn't the only one cutting hair at 17...
