Ryan Leslie Speaks at Young Faces Smiling Event in Harlem


Ryan Leslie came out to support Young Faces Smiling by speaking to the students at Bread & Roses High School in Harlem about the importance of getting an eduction and how it lays the foundation to build upon. Those who follow Mr. Leslie know he scored a perfect 1600 on the SATs, graduated Harvard University at age 19 and has gone on to become a great producer/songwriter/singer. But what you may not know is that upon graduating from college, Ryan was homeless for a short time before returning home to live on his father's couch. He shared with the students that it was that moment when He realized he couldn't quit. He thanked his Father for purchasing $15,000 worth of recording equipment to jump start the dream and told the students not to squander the investment that their parents, mentors, and teachers are making in them.


DID YOU KNOW... R.Les cut hair in college. He charged $7 a head, stacked his bread and bought gear to stay fresh. Hustlin! I guess Tre Songz wasn't the only one cutting hair at 17...

Other celebs in attendance were Kenya Barris from ANTM & Kalea, plus size model from BET's Rip the Runway. And of course your girls, @Lg00die & @MsKlassyChassy were on the scene!

Super Model Chanel Iman Covers December Issue of Prestige Magazine

Avenue Pink Cutie Chanel Iman worked it out in a red silk Marchesa dress on the December 2009 cover of lifestyle magazine, Prestige.

The 19-year-old model born in Atlanta Georgia has come such a long way since winning A Ford Model search only a few short years ago. Chanel has graced the pages of Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Vogue and Glamour Magazines to name a few. She has also walked catwalks from New York City to Milan. Gaining respect and a spot on fellow super model Tyra Banks national television show, Chanel is well on her way to becoming a household name.

In addition to having a dream job for many.... and living a very charmed life, Chanel also manages to stay far away from negative reports and has been successful in having a very public relationship. Any young lady pursuing runway modeling can definitly learn alot from Miss. Iman who is a true southern beauty.

Chanel sat down with Prestige Magazine to talk about her relationship with boyfriend Chris Smith. Chanel told Prestige that Chris is a “great guy.” She then added, “I look for someone who’s a man, who really knows how to listen and how to learn from his girl. I want someone who cares from his heart about what’s on the inside, not about what’s on the outside… I also skateboard with my boyfriend and we ride around a lot of parks here in the city.”

How Cute! Well we wish Chanel the best of luck in her relationship and in her future endeavours! Congrats Miss OHHH SO FLOSSY!!!

Complex Magazine caught up with him during the launch and talked Power...

When asked "What brings you to the fragrance game and why the name Power?"
50 Cent replied::: Power translates in every language. It means the same thing. (very smart)

5o was also asked how his fragrance will sell better than those by Jay-Z (of course), Diddy or USHER? His response was:::

"I think it will be there as a representative of what "I" feel like quality is right now" (OUUCHH) People can decide!

Classic 50!(I love it)

BUT WAIT.......

He also added::::

The consumers will decide that. If I said something to the likes of me feeling like I would be more successful than those other projects, it might turn some (consumers)off. So I won't.

I'm not competitive with everything. You cannot be that way. The competitive nature of the hip-hop culture has always had battling involved with it. So you battle with other artist but not necessarily in business and everywhere else.

NOS Boutique Fashion Show for Mackage Line: Events on the Ave

The trendy neighborhood of Dumbo, Brooklyn has something new to celebrate. Last Thursday NOS Boutique owner Racquel Nosworthy hosted a fashion show for the Mackage coat line in her brand new store. Models strutted back and forth before a wide-eyed crowd, all of whom were in awe of the impeccable style and quality of the Canada-based coat line. Chassy and I had a hard time figuring out which coat was our favorite because they were all gorgeous! Check out pictures of the coats and the models who rocked them below.

Ms. Nosworthy has much to celebrate. Not only did she open up a new boutique in the trendy Dumbo neighborhood (which guarantees sales from the caliber of clientele alone), but she made an incredibly wise choice with the designers whose merchandise will be sold in her store. She is currently focusing on coats and accessories to introduce customers to her good taste. But it is very likely that will change soon, because after the fashion show, tons of audience members flocked to the registers to secure orders of the featured coats and winter shoes to match. I can’t wait to see what she has in store for the Spring Summer collection. I’m grabbing the first yellow item that I set my eyes on! :-)

Anika Noni Rose’s big Disney night was this past weekend. She and her co-stars of The Princess & The Frog hit up their premiere at Walt Disney Studios In Burbank.

Ne-Yo, who sings the theme song of the movie & The whole cast–including Terrence Howard, Jenifer Lewis, Keith David, and others were there to celebrate Disney's FIRST BLACK PRINCESS!

The night was historic and most definitely earned the cast and especially Miss Rose a spot in THE OHH SO FLOSSY AWARD OF THE WEEK HALL OF FAME!

Lenny Kravitz and his one-time love Lisa Bonet's daughter, the adorable multi-talented 20 year old Zoe Kravitz, has made a name for herself in the world of entertainment and has started to pull in some major endorsements!

Apparently the people over at Vera Wang have a love for the spunky, fun and adorable Zoe as they've crowned her the new face of Vera Wang Princess::::::Giving the people exactly what we want, an edgier ROCK Princess!

In case you didn't know....Zoe also fronts Philly-based band Elevator Flight and is currently filming Twelve with fellow rising stars Chance Crawford and Emma Roberts, so I'm guessing that we'll be seeing much more of Little Miss Kravitz in the near future.

According to WWD, the actress will be the face of the Vera Wang Princess perfume campaign after former princess Camilla Belle's contract ends in July and they're not wasting anytime shooting for the promos! Which we LOVE!!!

• Terrance J (106 & Park) hosting the Step Show!
• Columbus Short showed up to guest judge the 2009 Step Show (can't wait for Stomp the Yard 2 BTW).
• Actress Essence Atkins was on the scene...
• Pooch Hall (The Game) played in the celebrity B-Ball event
• Mylyssa ford was in the mix as well with many many others!

The icing on the cake was Howard Alum LANCE GROSS who was in full effect attending the fashion show , step show and also participating in the celebrity B-Ball Game (where a shirtless Omarion performed) and lastly just chilling on his old campus!

AVENUE STAGE: BLACK GIRLS ROCK AWARDS 2009!

Avenue Pink covered and attended the annual awards reception for Beverly Bond's non-profit organization, Black Girls Rock! It took place at the newly built and very gorgeous venue, The Times Square Center in New York City this past weekend. Eight women (and one man--Anthony Hamilton) were honored for their charitable and influential efforts in empowering women of color. Here is a list of the honorees and the awards they received:

Fresh presented an award for his long time friend Queen Latifah and ROCKED the house with some old school jams. The theater was filled with so much talent on Saturday night! Little Miss Fashionista has been hitting up Paris Fashion Week and not letting the paps get any... rest...at...ALL!

Don't try to tug on your....bra??? There's nothing there! LOL Miss Rihanna stunned us all over at Paris Fashion Week by sporting the most daring outfits to date!

The 21-year-old R&B singer teamed up a pair of goggles with a pair of thigh-high boots one day. On Saturday she sat front row at the Jean Paul Gaultier show looking HOT! Dressed in a black bra and barely-there jacket that was more cut outs than cloth, she was also joined by buddy/singer Katy Perry and we all know that the two of them together scream "GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN" its no wonder they're hanging out together.

Rihanna was all over Paris giving us what we wanted... Fashion, Fashion, Fashion ohhh and some more FASHION!!!

She certainly gave the French photographers an Eiffel (eye full lol) when she showed up at the events in barely there ensemble's & I loved them all! (ok maybe not the sheer dress, that was a maybe a little too much) but hey.....it was Fashion Week.... in Paris...What else would you expect???
